The Gospel of Mark was the first Gospel to be written and recorded in the New Testament. John Mark, who attained these snapshots of Jesus’ life through his tutelage under the apostle Peter, spent much of his time writing the Gospel while in Rome where Christians were facing persecution. And this book, among other purposes, was written to suffering Christians to comfort them that Jesus, the Son of God, who was crucified and raised from the dead, was with them.

In the Gospel of Mark, we find the center of the story with a King whose Kingdom is upside down, who didn’t come to be served but serve and to give His life as a ransom for many (Mk 10:45). Through examining these stories snapshot by snapshot, we’re offered an opportunity to engage in the power of the Gospel Story. That in Christ, we not only have the power to believe His story, it gives us the power to shape our lives in accordance to His. Join us for our dive into the Gospel of Mark, as we investigate the relevance of Jesus, the Servant King through the events in his life, ministry, and sacrifice.
